Me. I’m going back to school as an undergrad student.
When my youngest child graduated homeschool in 2021 I decided to take a French class from our local college. I’d been wanting to study French since I was 13 years old and reading Hercule Poirot stories. And the more I read English literature and history, and learned about how previous generations of English-speakers had been educated, the more it seemed like I needed French.
As I explored the classes and programs available at the college I’d chosen, I decided to enroll as an English major with a minor in Medieval Studies. I’d had three semesters of college back in the 80s before getting married, so I started off as a sophomore. I took two semesters of French, then in the fall of 2022 I took a class on the history of the English language (which taught me that I was waaaaay more ignorant than I’d thought I was) and a history class on early Christian Ireland, which was amazing and so much fun. I’d planned to take a class on Chaucer in the spring 2023 semester, but because I was overwhelmed by other commitments I dropped that class, which is a decision I regret now. Oh, well. We pray for wisdom and do the best we can with the knowledge we have at the time.
The good news is that after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus I’m finally able to pick it back up again. Check out my books for the coming semester!

I’m taking a freshman-level theology class, which is required for graduation, and a senior-level class on Medieval Literature. I’ve read some of the Medieval Lit selections, but not all, and never with a professor, so I’m really excited about that. I’ll be studying under the same prof who taught the HEL class I took back in 2022 and she really knows and loves her field.
